How to Cook Rice Perfectly Every Time
Rice seems simple but is easily ruined. Here's how to make perfect rice every time.
Perfect rice—fluffy, separate grains, no sticking—requires the right ratio, proper technique, and adequate resting time.
For most white rice, use a one-to-two ratio: one cup rice to two cups water. Rinse rice until water runs clear—this removes excess starch that causes sticking.
The Instant Pot makes perfect rice with minimal effort—ten minutes on high pressure, natural release.
For stovetop: bring to boil, reduce to lowest simmer, cover tightly, cook seventeen minutes, turn off heat and let rest five minutes. Don't lift the lid!
For the best results, use a pot with a tight-fitting lid and never stir rice while cooking.
